This section of the website is about the dresses we have for loan to newcomers to our group who either don't have the funds, skill, or time, to make or buy an outfit of their own. Most of our events require at least an attempt at Regency era clothing, but don't panic if you don't have anything appropriate yet! We don't expect anyone to whip up a costume fit for a monarch on short notice. This is where the Costumes for Loan comes in. At this point in time we only have women's costumes, but hope to at some point have men's costumes as well. These dresses are pretty basic, and are made to fit a variety of sizes. They would work for most events with the exception of those where formal attire is required. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, etc. at info@garegency.org.
If you would rather make your own costume, good for you! There are lots of patterns out there you can use, including some from the big pattern companies that can be found at any fabric store. You can find lots of places to find inspriation, fabrics, patterns, and so on over in our Resources and Links page.
We have a few rules for borrowing one of our dresses:
The Dresses we have are made to fit a variety of sizes by way of having a drastring neckline, waistline, and short puff sleeves with drawstrings. This being said, they are not "one size fits all" and go by the following Bust/Waist/Hip Measurements (all measurements are in inches and are approximate):
In order to borrow a dress you must contact Stephanie at info@garegency.org to let her know you are interested in using a dress. Please let her know in order of preference which three dresses you'd like to use (list the item code number). In case of your first choice having already been taken, you will be given your next choice and so on. Please contact us as soon as you know you'll need a dress before an event to insure that you get your choice as it is first come first serve. It is up to the borrower to collect the dress up to a week before the event and return it within fourteen days of said event. All dresses must be laundered before return and any adjustments or alternations must be undone to return the garment to its original condition. In the event that a dress is not available, if enough time is given before an event a new dress may be made in time but we offer no guarantee.
As dresses are added to the collection they will be posted here. For now dresses are being made on an as-needed basis. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in borrowing a dress so that one may be made for you to wear.
We, of course, are intersested in accepting donations. If you have costume pieces or fabric that you would like to donate to our group please email us at info@garegency.org. In return we would be happy to add your website to our affiliate list on the Front Page as well as to to the Resources and Links page. Thank you!

Policies for Borrowing
We have a few rules for borrowing one of our dresses:
- Dresses can only be borrowed for Georgia Regency Society Events.
- We only lend out basic outfits. We do not include accessories such as bags, hats, outergarments, jewelry, and so on. It is up to each person to find their own items in addition to the dress.
- A member may borrow a dress for up to three events (it must be re-loaned each time, however). After this it is the responsibility of the member to obtain their own clothing for events.
- Dresses are to be returned within fourteen days (two weeks) of event unless otherwise arranged.
- Borrowed clothing is to be laundered before return. Items should be returned in good repair. In other words, you rip it, you fix it.
- Any hemming or alterations should not be permanent and are to be removed before return.
- Damaged or unreturned items are to be replaced by you. Replacements are to be of equal or greater quality.
- Dresses are available at a first come, first serve basis. Please inquire as soon as you can before an event to insure getting a dress. Once we're out, we're out.
